Keep Your Medi-Cal

Mar 7, 2023Stay Well

The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency will end soon and millions of Medi-Cal and Medi-Cal/Medicare beneficiaries may lose their coverage.

Under the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration (PHE) for the last 3 years individuals and families have automatically qualified for Medi-Cal without having to file documents to satisfy eligibility requirements.  That is changing!

COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration (PHE) is ending in May. This means Medi-Cal will resume its annual renewal screenings to make sure people continue to qualify. This is called the Medi-Cal Redetermination.

Medi-Cal has started to contact current enrollees to redetermine and renew. If you are a Medi-Cal enrollee who has moved or changed phone numbers since 2020, please be sure to contact your local Medi-Cal office and update your information (name, address, phone and email).

San Francisco Office                                     San Mateo Office

Call 1-415-558-4700                                          Call 1-800-223-8383

You may have already received a notice/letter letting you know that you did not qualify to stay enrolled in Medi-Cal. If this is the case, you should contact the Medi-Cal office for a review and make sure they have the correct information. Or you can complete your annual renewal and report changes to Medi-Cal by creating an online account today by going to mybenefitscalwin.org and selecting the “Create An Account” link.

If you receive a notice and are no longer eligible for Medi-Cal, Covered California will automatically enroll you into a health plan in your area and apply any applicable federal subsidies to reduce your monthly premium. You should be notified of your new plan before your Medi-Cal coverage ends. If you have not received your notice, be sure to contact Medi-Cal to check your status.

To minimize disruptions to access to care and to find the best plan that fits your health needs, you can also contact CCHP who will help you in Chinese.  We are an authorized coverage Ambassador and we are here to guide you through the process to get you covered with all financial help you are entitled to.

CCHP-Balance Special Ambassador hotline is 1-888-775-7888, M-F 9am-5pm. Please be sure to leave a message if our agents are busy helping others.

Chinese Community Health Plan (CCHP) is a Medicare Advantage HMO plan with a Medicare contract and a California Medicaid program contract for our SNP. Enrollment in CCHP depends on contract renewal. Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. CCHP’s pharmacy network offers limited access to pharmacies with preferred cost sharing in San Francisco and San Mateo County. The lower costs advertised in our plan materials for these pharmacies may not be available at the pharmacy you use. For up-to-date information about our network pharmacies, including pharmacies with preferred cost sharing, please call 1-888-775-7888 (TTY 1-877-681-8898) or consult the online pharmacy directory at www.cchphealthplan.com/medicare.
