Vaccines help protect you, your family, and your community from serious respiratory illnesses. For many Asian families, older adults often live in multigenerational households, making vaccination an important way to help reduce the spread of illness at home.
Two important vaccines:
• Flu Shot
• Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine
The flu shot is recommended every year because flu viruses change over time. It helps lower the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and flu-related complications. The RSV vaccine helps protect older adults at higher risk of severe RSV illness.
The CDC recommends one RSV vaccine for:
• Adults age 75 and older
• Adults age 50-74 with certain health conditions
• Pregnant women may also receive an RSV vaccine during weeks 32-36 of pregnancy to help protect their baby after birth.
Talk with your healthcare provider about which vaccines are right for you. Staying up to date on recommended immunizations helps keep you, your loved ones, and your community healthy.
