COVID-19 Testing Options: Onsite and At-Home

Upon the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration on May 11, 2023, CCHP has changed member benefits for COVID-19 testing. Most members still have wide access and coverage for detection and prevention of the transmission of COVID-19.  Please review details carefully below.

For CCHP members in Individual and Family, Covered California, and Employer Group plans:

  • No prior authorization will be necessary to obtain these tests.
  • COVID-19 tests can be obtained Over-The-Counter (OTC) at the authorized CCHP At-Home Test Provider Network. These include pharmacies, retail stores, and online retailers. Simply, show your CCHP Member ID card at check-out.(See the list here.) You may receive up to eight (8) tests every 30 calendar days.
  •  CCHP will reimburse out-of-pocket costs to the member for up to eight (8) tests every 30 calendar days and up to $12/test.  Members may obtain reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs by submitting a completed reimbursement form, along with proof of purchase.

For CCHP Medicare Advantage plan members in Senior, Senior Value, and Senior Select programs:

  • Over-the-counter COVID-19 home test kits are no longer be covered. However, you may still visit one of the Chinese Hospital’s community clinics listed below to pick up a free test kit (supply may be limited).

CCHP members may obtain home testing kits for free or receive reimbursement for purchased COVID-19 at-home tests.

  • Sunset Health Services at 1800 31st Ave, San Francisco
  • Excelsior Health Services at 888 Paris St, #202, San Francisco
  • CCHP Member Services at 445 Grant Ave, San Francisco
  • Gellert Health Services at 386 Gellert Blvd, Daly City

*Supply may be limited.

OTC for Medicare members:

  • Over-the-counter (OTC) test kits are no longer covered by Medicare.

OTC for Individual & Family, Covered California, or Employer Group member, at no charge:

  • Over-the-counter (OTC) at authorized CCHP At-Home Test Provider Network (see the list here.)
